Musicians
    (1994- )
    Formed in Mesa, Arizona
    Jim Adkins (Vocalist/Guitarist)
    Tom Linton (Guitarist/Backing Vocalist)
    Rick Burch (Bassist)
    Zach Lind (Drummer)
Recorded 'Jimmy Eat World,' 'Static Prevails,' 'Clarity,' and 'Jimmy Eat World (Bleed American)'
Songs include 'The Middle,' 'Sweetness,' 'Bleed American,' 'Anderson Mesa,' 'Seventeen,' 'Call it in the Air,' 'Lucky Denver Mint,' 'Your New Aesthetic' and 'For Me This Is Heaven'
They got their name from a drawing that Tom's brother Ed made about another one of his brothers, Jimmy, who was drawn eating the world. The caption for the picture read 'Jimmy Eat World.'
They have been considered to be one of the most notable bands in a rock subgenre known as 'emo,' which is short for 'emotional,' as in emotionally-charged punk.
By coincidence, the acronym for the band is 'J.E.W.'
They did not have much support during their first four years and three albums from their then-label Capitol Records.
Jim thinks that the easiest way to get a crowd's attention during their performances is to keep saying 'fuck' onstage between songs.
'Lucky Denver Mint' was the theme song to the short-lived Jennifer Love Hewitt vehicle 'Time of Your Life.'
They financed the recording of 'Bleed American' by taking up various 'normal jobs' to offset costs that they had to encounter in recording the album.
When they finished recording 'Bleed American,' they only had seventy dollars left in their bank account.
Even though they have been classified as an 'emo' band by a considerable amount of people, they simply just want to be known as a straightforward rock band.
They changed the name of 'Bleed American' to 'Jimmy Eat World' after September 11th.
They played at the wedding reception of Blink 182's Tom DeLonge, who happens to be a big supporter of the band, along with the other members.
They like to drop names of their favorite bands and songs in their lyrics.
