Died of a blood clot in his brain after a fall down the stairs of his home at age 68

Why he might be annoying:

His style of news delivery was dry and monotone.
He was sexist and elitist.
He smoked.
He relationship with ABC co-anchor Barbara Walters was at best 'tumultuous.'
He divorced his first wife after 34 years of marriage and 7 children.
When former colleague Max Robinson died of AIDS in 1988 he offered no explanation why he refused to attend his funeral.
His name is the answer to the riddle, what do you get when you cross a computer with an ape.

Why he might not be annoying:

He won a Peabody Award for outstanding achievements (1967).
He helped Mike Wallace in creating 60 Minutes (1968).
He won several Emmys, including one as outstanding TV broadcaster for 1973-1974.
He underwent lung cancer surgery in 1987 & 1988.
He marriage to his second wife ended in just 3 years when he died.
He retired just 3 months prior to his death.
