    Born in Madanapalle, India
    Indian spiritual teacher
    Discovered at age 13 by Theosophists Charles Leadbeater and Annie Besant who declared that he was the 'vehicle' for a coming 'World Teacher'
    Named head of the Theosophists' Order of the Star of the East (1911)
    Wrote 'The Songs of Life' (1931), 'The First and Last Freedom' (1954), 'Commentaries on Living' (1960), 'Freedom from the Known' (1969) and 'Krishnamurti's Notebook' (1976)

Why he might be annoying:

    He claimed to have psychic experiences in which he talked to his late mother and sister.
    He failed the entrance exams for both Oxford and Cambridge.
    He insisted on having books used by other people wiped down before he would read them.
    He was friends in public with Aldous Huxley, but in private said Huxley had a mind 'like a wastebasket.'
    He recommended celibacy to his followers while secretly conducting a 25-year affair with the wife of his business manager.
    He wrote numerous books and gave endless lectures explaining how reading books and listening to teachers were useless for finding enlightenment.

Why he might not be annoying:

    Growing up, he was beaten at school by his teachers and at home by his father.
    He announced the dissolution of the Order of the Star of the East and returned the money and properties donated to the Order, including a castle in the Netherlands, to their original owners (1929).
    He said upon dissolving the Order, 'No organization can lead man to spirituality.'
    He had great personal magnetism.
    George Bernard Shaw said he was 'the most beautiful human being' he had ever seen.
    His philosophy influenced people ranging from author Joseph Campbell to martial artist Bruce Lee.
