The Resume

    (January 30, 1933-May 2, 2006)
Born in New York City, New York
    Financial journalist
Hosted 'Wall $treet Week with Louis Rukeyser' on PBS (1970-2002) and 'Louis Rukeyser's Wall Street' on CNBC (2002-04)
Wrote 'How to Make Money in Wall Street' (1974)

Why he might be annoying:

He was big on using puns.
He was fond of blackjack, but complained that people would interrupt his playing to ask if the odds were better in the casino or on Wall Street.
He fired longtime 'Wall $treet Week' panelist Gail Dudak on the air without warning her beforehand (November 5, 1999).
A study found that stocks recommended by the panelists and guests on his show would underperform the market during the following year.

Why he might not be annoying:

Money magazine wrote, 'He brings to the tube a blend of warmth, wit, irreverence, thrusting intellect and large doses of charm, plus the credibility of a Walter Cronkite.'
He was the first man to win the Women's Economic Round Table Award for 'outstanding service in educating the public about business, financial and economic policy.'
PBS's decision to demote him in favor of a younger host backfired as the audience for 'Wall $treet Week' dropped by 80%.
He was named to a best-dressed list by Playboy and described by People as the only sex symbol in economics.
He said of his fondness for on-air joking, 'I don't think any of us should apologize for not being dull.'
