    Sang in ‘The Magic Flute,’ ‘Don Giovanni,’ ‘The Abduction from the Seraglio,’ ‘The Bartered Bride,’ ‘St. Matthew Passion,’ ‘Eugene Onegin’ and ‘La Traviata’
    He was an alcoholic.
    He died after falling down a staircase drunk.
    He was known for his womanizing.
    A woman wrote an insane account claiming his spirit visited her and became her ‘ghost lover.’
    His daughter also claimed that his ‘presence’ visited her (but not sexually).
    There are theories that he was pushed down the stairs by the jealous husband of a lover.
    His father died when he was five years old.
    As a teenager, he would bike 50 miles in a day to take singing lessons.
    He played trumpet, French horn and accordion.
    He enjoyed jazz as well as classical music.
    He died three weeks before he was to debut at the Metropolitan Opera.
    He had a beautiful voice.
