Why he might be annoying:

His use of soldiers to break up a tax protest led to debate about whether he was fulfilling his military duty or engaged in royal interference with politics (1895).
During World War I, he sympathized with Germany, which was awkward since the prime minister, parliament, and most of the public favored the Allies.
He was overthrown for the second and last time in an army coup following a disastrous military campaign against Turkey.

Why he might not be annoying:

As Crown Prince, he headed the organizing committee for the first modern Olympics (1896).
He led Greek forces during the Balkan Wars that doubled the size of the country (1912-13).
He abdicated for the first time when Allied forces threatened to bombard Athens unless Greece abandoned its neutrality during WWI.
