The Resume

    (January 9, 1941-September 21, 2020)
    Born in Three Rivers, Texas
Frontman of Roy Head and the Traits
Recorded the singles ‘Treat Her Right’ (1965) and ‘Just a Little Bit’ (1965)

Why he might be annoying:

After two hits, his career momentum was halted by a lawsuit filed by members of his backing band.
Various attempts at comebacks usually ended in an acrimonious dispute with a producer or record label executive.
He said, ‘I screwed up my own career. Just when I get going good, I screw it up.’
His onstage mishaps have included swinging a microphone into his face, bloodying his nose; jumping from a balcony to the stage, only to have his belt catch on a hook, leaving him dangling until he undid the belt; jumping off a horse to the stage and landing short; and swinging onto stage by grabbing an overhead pipe, only to discover the hard way that it was a hot water pipe.
He was banned from his sons’ Little League games for yelling at the other kids.

Why he might not be annoying:

‘Treat Her Right’ hit #2 on both Billboard’s pop and R&B charts.
He put on a high-energy, acrobatic show that drew comparisons to James Brown.
He lost about half the memorabilia from his career when his house was flooded during Hurricane Rosa (1994).
His son Michael died when his truck flipped over in an accident (1988).
His son Sundance won season 11 of The Voice (2016).
