Why they might be annoying:

At the time of their 'Gish' tour, James and D'Arcy broke up after dating for a while, Jimmy got addicted to alcohol and experimented with drugs and Billy went into a very heavy depression.
The group decided to kick out Jimmy Chamberlain, after he and Jonathan Melvoin (the band's touring keyboardist), had heroin overdoses, causing Jonathan to die.
When Billy was nineteen years old, he left his home to join a gothic metal band called 'The Marked,' which failed.
They wore gothic looking makeup and dark clothing.

Why they might not be annoying:

They are known as one of the most successful and influential alternative rock bands of the 90's.
Some of their major influences include Queen, The Cure, Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Cheap Trick and The Cars.
Billy and James met at a used records store that Billy worked at.
They opened for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane's Addiction and Pearl Jam.
Critics like that they mix a variety of grunge, gothic, dream pop, alternative and psychedelic rock.
They participated in a lot of fund raisers for children.
'Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness' reached #1 on the 'Billboard 200' and was one of the most successful albums that year.
They said: 'we either completely blow people's minds or are hated.'
Many of the songs on 'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness' were recorded on piano, one year after Billy learned the instrument.
Right before they broke up, they created an album called 'Machina II: The Friends and Enemies of Modern Music' and let fans download it off the internet for free.
