Football Player

The Resume

    (May 4, 1987- )
    Born in Lakewood, Ohio
Guard/Offensive Lineman for the San Francisco 49ers (2009–2015)
Played college football for Ohio State University (Ohio State Buckeyes)
Signed by the Minnesota Vikings (Mar. 9, 2016)

Why he might be annoying:

He has an Indian skull with Chief headdress regalia tattooed onto his right pectoral.
He was convicted of driving under the influence (2006).
He was arrested on charges of jumping on car hoods, yanking on a tow truck cable and trying to break a window (Feb. 2009).
The concerns about his alcohol abuse partially resulted in his going undrafted during the 2009 NFL Draft.
He came under fire after the departure of Jim Harbaugh, in which he claimed that the coach 'wore out his welcome,' 'pushed the guys too far,' and further even suggesting that he might be 'clinically insane.'
The comments came off as particularly gratuitous considering that he had been one of Harbaugh's biggest supporters when rumors about discord in the locker room first circulated.
He is known for engaging in trash talking against players who sack his teammates, with language usually coming close to physical threats (e.g. saying Patrick Peterson 'knows what he's got coming to him' for unnecessary roughness on Sam Bradford; saying he'd like to punch Clay Matthews in the face for clotheslining Colin Kaepernick, in 2013).
He made headlines for some comments made relative to Colin Kaepernick and his National Anthem protest, again seemingly alluding to violence: 'See, I’m a very emotional person. So I think if I had known that, my emotions would’ve been rolling — I think we would’ve had a problem on the sideline' (Aug. 2016).

Why he might not be annoying:

His brother was a Marine who served in Iraq.
He was a two-time All-Big Ten and one-time All-America selection at Ohio State.
Weighing in at a whopping 6-foot-8, 300 Ibs - he was easily one of the largest players on both the 49ers/Vikings rosters.
He is versatile, capable of playing both tackle and guard.
He is active with the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, which works with military families.
There is a black baby rhinoceros named after him at The San Francisco Zoo (he was Zookeeper for a day there back in 2013).
He elaborated on his criticism of Kaepernick's protest, saying: 'I get that the flag gives him the right to do whatever he wants. But there’s a time and a place. Show some respect, and that’s just how I feel.'
He wore the same helmet since the beginning of his NFL career (until suffering his first concussion in 2016, at which point he was persuaded to change over to a newer - safer - one).
