The Resume

    (November 2, 1991- )
    Born in Alington Heights, Illinois
    Quarterback
    Birth name is James Garoppolo
    Attended Eastern Illinois University
Drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft
    Wears #10

Why he might be annoying:

    He is a pretty boy.
    His nickname is Jimmy Gameday.
His draft selection by Bill Belichick was initially unpopular among Patriots fans.
His last name has led many to believe that he's Greek when he's not.
Laura Ingraham (incidentally old enough to be his mother) got hot for him on her radio show.
He inspired a strange internet meme claiming that he looked like Disney's Aladdin.
The meme spread so quickly that he was subjected to a prank by his teammates when his locker name plate was changed to 'Prince Aladdin.'
He was being groomed as Tom Brady's presumptive 'younger' successor when sports commentators were claiming he was washed up.
When Brady made his comeback later in the 2014 season, he was relegated to the background again and largely ignored.
For all the hype that came with his drafting, he had little to no role in securing the Patriots' Superbowl XLX victory (if anything getting upstaged by the team's cornerback).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He is nimble.
He downplayed any rivalry between himself and Brady.
He won the Walter Payton Award for the best offensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision (2013).
He was named CFPA National FCS Quarterback of the Year (2013).
He broke Tony Romo's Eastern Illinois record for career passing touchdowns, yards and passing touchdowns in a single season.
He avoided embarrassment by largely staying silent during the 'Deflate-Gate' controversy leading up to the Superbowl.
He brought his parents, two siblings, and five former teammates with him on his draft day.
