Composer

The Resume

    (March 14, 1681-June 25, 1767)
Wrote more than 6,000 string sonatas, cantatas, orchestral suites and operas

Why he might be annoying:

    He was a child prodigy.
His style didn’t change with the times.
His music isn’t too well known today.
One critic said: ‘Telemann wrote music as if he was cranking out sausage.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a well like jolly person.
He was friends with both Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel, the two greatest composers of his day.
Bach named one of his sons after him.
Handel said he ‘could write an eight-part fugue as easily as someone else could write a letter.’
He was much more famous than Bach at the time.
Music scholars consider his pieces underrated.
    His beloved wife died young.
With more than 6,000 works, he is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most prolific composer who ever lived.
