Corporation
    (1931-2013)
    Born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada
    Founded by Walter P. Zeller
Subsidiary of the Hudson's Bay Company
198 stores sold to Target Corporation (January 13, 2011)
They struggled to adapt to the changing retail landscape in the late 2000's.
Many of their stores took a huge hit in sales when competitors like Wal-Mart and The Real Canadian Superstore began offering one stop shopping options.
They discontinued their Club Z points program upon being taken over by the Hudson's Bay Company.
Their attempts to expand their brand backfired horribly as many shoppers saw them as being lower tier in contrast to Walmart.
They received the unflattering title of 'Canada's Worst Customer Service' in a CBC Marketplace documentary.
It was started as a discount store chain in the 1930's for 'thrifty' Canadian shoppers.
They were the first retail franchise to incorporate the restaurant, auto service centre and suburban area store.
They resisted many takeover attempts from American retail chains, prior to Target's purchase.
They were one of the first chains to start the loyalty rewards programs for customers who frequently shopped at their stores.
As a result of being part of the Hudson's Bay Company retail store chain, they sold the licensed Olympic wear in their stores.
