Wrote the play 'The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial' (1953)
Also wrote 'This Is My God: The Jewish Way of Life' (1959), 'The Will to Live On: The Resurgence of Jewish Heritage' (2000) and 'The Language God Talks' (2010)

Why he might be annoying:

He said he was 'criminally lazy' in school.
His first professional writing job was as a gag writer for radio comedian Fred Allen.
Although he had turned 'The Caine Mutiny' into a success on Broadway, his screenplay for the film version was declared a 'disaster' by director Edward Dmytryk, who fired him.
He called writing 'the loneliest job in the world.'
