Why they might be annoying:

Uncasville?
The Mohegan tribe bought the team as a marketing tie-in to their casino, the Mohegan Sun.
The nickname 'Sun' was already used by the NBA's Phoenix Suns and the defunct WNBA team, Miami Sol ('Sol' is Latin for 'Sun').
They acquired washed-up former University of Connecticut player Rebecca Lobo to drum up local interest.
They lost in their first two WNBA Finals appearances.

Why they might not be annoying:

Keeping things clean, their residence casino doesn't accept sports wagering.
They were the first WNBA team not to have NBA ownership and located in a non-NBA city.
They drastically improved once they moved from Orlando to Connecticut.
All of their starters were selected for the 2006 WNBA All-Star Game.
They are located in a state with a rich women's basketball tradition.
