Why Celebrity Deathmatch (MTV) might not be annoying:

    Robot Chicken copied it shamelessly.
It might be the only time Debbie Matenopoulos was ever the winner of anything.
It started out as a short on MTV's Cartoon Sushi and was brought back for MTV's Super Bowl Halftime special before entering the main lineup.
It was a cornerstone for MTV's original programming along with Daria and Beavis and Butthead (who fought it out on a Deathmatch episode).
They released a banging soundtrack for the first season.
The soundtrack included Marilyn Manson's original single 'Astonishing Panorama of the Endtimes' which was nominated for a Grammy (losing out to 'Elite' by Deftones).
In Kid Rock vs. Eminem, when Ritchie dispatches his hype-man Joe C. to take down Marshall - only for Joe to go postal on both him and the announcer, one of the commentators can be heard saying: 'That’s just like a rapper to use somebody else’s body of work to make a hit.' (SHADE!).
When Steven Spielberg lost in his fight to Alfred Hitchcock, Steven wrote a letter to the creators requesting a rematch so he could 'bring his T-Rex and Great White Shark.'
