Why she might be annoying:

    Her parents told her stories about the slaughter of the Chinese people from the ‘Nanking Massace’ at a young age.
    Her book ‘The Rape of Nanking’ has stirred controversy in Japan in its authenticity.
    ‘The Rape of Nanking’ is very explicit and graphic.
    In her office, she held photos depicting torture and killing.
    She is quoted saying: ‘I lost weight and I lost hair. I got sick frequently. I was very unhappy’ while doing research on ‘The Rape of Nanking.’

Why she might not be annoying:

    Her maternal grandparents had escaped ‘The Nanking’ just a few weeks before the killing began.
    John Rabe, a former Nazi, dubbed her ‘the Oskar Schindler of Nanking.’
    She worked to break stereotypes of Asians.
    She died young.
    She appeared on many TV programs, including ‘Nightline’ and ‘NewsHour.‘
    She suffered a nervous breakdown.
    Despite strong signs of mental illness the hospital released her five months before her death.
    Many claim her death was a wake-up call to history’s brutal effect on the mind.
