The Brownshirt journal 'Die Brunnen' declared, 'How high Horst Wessel towers over Jesus of Nazareth.'
Why he might not be annoying
He was shot in the face by a Communist, Albrecht Hohler.
Hohler was a friend of his landlady, and the murder may have been motivated by a rent dispute.
After World War II, the elaborate memorial the Nazis raised over his grave was destroyed and his song was banned in Germany.
