Why he might be annoying:

He spells his first name with an e at the end of it.
He was primarily used as a goon under former head coach Ron Wilson.
He speaks with a thick Newfie accent.
Some hockey pundits feel he plays a dirty game.
He was suspended for two games for leaving the bench in order to start a fight in the game's final minute of play (February 25, 2013).

Why he might not be annoying:

He played his formative years in the Atlantic provinces and Quebec, since the competition in his home province was scarce at best.
His scrappy play made him a fan favorite in San Jose.
He serves as the Sharks alternate captain.
He, along with Dan Cleary and Michael Ryder, is credited for leading the wave at the turn of the century for players from Newfoundland and Labrador to play in the NHL.
He established himself as a two way player when Todd McLellan took over the reins of the Sharks as head coach.
