    He played piano in between takes on film sets.
    His share in the profits of 'Going My Way' gave him the highest reported income in the United States for the year 1944.
    Billy Wilder tripped him as he went to the stage to accept the Best Director Oscar for 'Going My Way.'
    He was responsible for pairing Laurel and Hardy as a team.
    He was the first person to win Oscars for writing and directing the same film ('Going My Way').
    He was nominated for the Best Original Song Oscar in 1957.
