Just before hearing the actual results, she believed Tamiko Nash (Los Angeles area) had won.
She has competed in beauty pageants since age 4.
Rosie O'Donnell attacked Trump for not firing her, causing a rift between them.

Why she might not be annoying:

At the time of her Miss USA victory, she was working on a Business Administration degree.
By her agreeing to undergo treatment, Donald Trump allowed her to keep her title, which she feared losing for that very reason.
Trump also warned her she would be replaced if she fell off the wagon (major confidence vote there).
She was given the honor of ringing the opening bell at the American Stock Exchange (May 18, 2006).
