(January 27, 1954- )
Born in North Adams, Massachusetts
Comic book artist
Co-creator with Kevin Eastman of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1984)
Why he might be annoying
He and Eastman merchandised the crap out of the Turtles.
In their first issues, they misspelled 'Michaelangelo.'
Pressure from the Turtles' success caused him to develop writer's block and discover 'to my horror that I no longer enjoyed drawing.'
Eastman called him 'an insecure person in his creativity.'
Why he might not be annoying
He and Eastman created one of the most successful self-published comics of all-time.
He founded the nonprofit Xeric Foundation to enable other artists to self-publish their comics.
He said, 'When we created the Turtles, we wanted to spoof the world of superhero characters and poke good-natured fun at the heroic but not-so-funny characters that dominated the business.'
