Comedian

The Resume

    (April 5, 1968- )
    Born in Wellington, United Kingdom
    Anti-populist (anti-democrat) comedian
Co-writer and co-director of ‘Jerry Springer: The Opera’
Appeared on ‘Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle’ (4 series), ‘Fist of Fun’ (2 series), and ‘The Alternative Comedy Experience’
Author of ‘Fist of Fun,’ ‘The Perfect Fool,’ and ‘How I Escaped My Certain Fate — the Life and Deaths of a Stand-Up Comedian’
DVDs include ‘41st Best Stand Up Ever’ and ‘If You Prefer a Milder Comedian, Please Ask for One’

Why he might be annoying:

As one of his DVD titles so clearly indicates, he is not for the faint of heart.
He was the co-founder of a ‘Cluub (Zarathustra)’ that was meant to showcase non-stand-up but (1) ended up losing money and (2) achieving a cult following.
On the date of his final show of a six-month stint at Leicester Square, Dave Chappelle got on his case for causing an overrun that disrupted his own show.
He has no problems criticizing his audiences for failing to understand particular jokes.
‘… If (Jeremy) Clarkson can say the Prime Minister is a one-eyed Scottish idiot, then I can say that I hope his children go blind.’

Why he might not be annoying:

    He also writes music reviews.
His official website has a comic book feel — and a link interface that permits the user to click through the years (including the previous and next years).
When he directed the ‘Worst Show on the Fringe’ (Edinburgh, 1989), he received accolades from a press that had no idea he was a student.
While in Montreal, organizers of their Just for Laughs festival (1998), he gave a none too subtle lecture (‘American comedy sucks and here’s why!’)
‘The idea of what’s acceptable and what’s shocking, that’s where I investigate. I mean, you can’t be on Top Gear, where your only argument is that it’s all just a joke and anyone who takes offense is an example of political correctness gone mad.’
