Nominated by Donald Trump to succeed David Sulkin as Secretary of Veteran Affairs (March 28, 2018)

Why he might be annoying:

His name was misspelled ‘Ronnie’ in the White House press release issued after his first annual physical of Trump.
He declared Trump to be in ‘excellent’ health, even though Trump had elevated cholesterol levels and was only one pound below the weight that would qualify him as obese.
He was nominated to run the second-largest federal agency despite lacking management experience.
Trump announced his nomination before the White House had vetted him.
After his nomination, allegations surfaced of drinking on the job, creating a hostile work environment, and improperly dispensing medication.
Vice President Mike Pence’s physician accused him of violating Karen Pence’s privacy rights.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was restrained compared to Trump’s personal physician, Dr. Harold Bornstein, who called him ‘the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.’
He said he would like for Trump to eat healthier foods and exercise more.
He served in a forward-deployed surgical unit in Iraq (2005-06).
In defending him against misconduct allegations, President Trump noted, ‘He served three presidents. President Obama said he was fantastic. President Bush said he was fantastic. I say he’s fantastic.’
One of the more notable allegations – that during a 2015 overseas trip he drunkenly knocked on a female employee’s hotel room door so loudly that the Secret Service intervened to keep him from waking up President Obama – was denied by the Secret Service, which reported having no record of any such incident.
