Why he might be annoying:

    He complained of cramps in his arms during a tug-of-war on the first day of shooting.
    At first the production team did not deem an intervention necessary, leaving the poor guy on the ground for a good ten minutes.
    The medic who gave him his diagnosis of dehydration committed suicide a little more than a week later (‘these last few days, my name has been soiled in the media’).
    His death led to the immediate cancellation of the entire season — which left future (France) seasons in question and social media opinion sharply divided on the motives of the production team.

Why he might not be annoying:

    Despite reports of a girlfriend, he looked like he would have been a regular in the LGBT (same-sex relationship) community.
    Physically, there was nothing to indicate he was unfit to participate in the season (he passed the required on-site medical evaluation and the autopsy revealed no cardiovascular anomalies).
    He was described in French-language media as ‘having an adventurous profile’ and being ‘discreet, polite, kind.’
    The series’ production company filed to prevent anyone benefitting by his passing.
    Due to the nature of the situation, viewers got to learn about the cast while the show was filming.
