The Resume

    (October 15, 1926-October 13, 2000)
    Born in Canton, Ohio
Birth name was Elizabeth Jean Peters
    Nickname was Pete
    1950s measurements: 35-23-35½
Acted in 'Captain from Castile (1947),' 'It Happens Every Spring (1949),' 'As Young as You Feel (1951),' 'Anne of the Indies (1951),' 'Viva Zapata! (1952),' 'Vicki (1953),' 'Pickup on South Street (1953),' 'Niagara(1953),' 'Three Coins in the Fountain (1954),' 'Apache (1954),' 'Broken Lance (1954)' and 'A Man Called Peter (1955)'
Mrs. Howard Hughes (January 1957-June 1971)
Died of leukemia at age 73

Why she might be annoying:

She was suspended several times by her movie studio (20th Century Fox) for refusing parts and difficult behavior.
Her marriage to Hughes was one of three.
She married Hughes less than a month after divorcing her first husband and quit acting.
Almost from the start she and Hughes were married on paper only and spent most of the time apart.
Asked to open up about him (for a lot of money) after the divorce she stated, 'My life with Howard Hughes was and shall remain a matter on which I will have no comment.'
She went to UCLA in the 1960s, dropped out, went back in the 1970s, earned a teaching degree and never utilized it.

Why she might not be annoying:

Her father died when she was 10 and her mom opened a tourist camp by the family farm to make ends meet.
A friend of hers secretly sent her photo for an Ohio beauty contest (that included a Hollywood screen test as a prize) which she won.
Her beauty amazed Darryl F. Zanuck, and she was signed without taking a screen test.
She had a warm personality and befriended several stars and co-stars like Marilyn Monroe, Joseph Cotten, David Niven, Ray Milland, Marie McDonald and best friend Jeanne Crain.
She loved painting, dress designing and as an Ohio native was a passionate baseball fan of the Cleveland Indians.
Off screen she was a tomboy with natural beauty who liked dressing down without make-up and detested Hollywood parties and publicity shoots.
She made her own money in movies and real estate investments, so she didn't marry Hughes for money.
Even though Hughes didn’t insist on a confidentiality agreement, she kept her mouth shut about him and was one of the few people he never bad-mouthed.
