The Resume

    (January 21, 1909-December 1, 2006)
Born in New York City, New York
    Born Raymond Silverstein
Voice of Baby Huey and Katnip in the Famous Studios (Paramount Pictures) Cartoons
Film credits include ‘Pajama Game,’ ‘The Hustler,’ and short documentary ‘Sid at 90’

Why he might be annoying:

Though he played many a server on radio or television (including ‘Duffy’s Tavern’), he was never a waiter or bartender; instead, he sold vacuum cleaners.
He dropped out of New York University.
He was a recreation director in the Catskill resorts when he met his future wife — whose parents did not initially approve of him.
Not helped in the least by a series of uncredited parts, he was constantly asked, ‘Don’t I know you from somewhere?’
He died just as he was about to get a phone call to audition for a pharmaceutical commercial.

Why he might not be annoying:

While never serving in the war itself, he led a small troupe for the Second World War.
The New York Times likened his appearance to Edward G Robinson (but definitely not his voice).
Coincidentally, FDR was at a live show where he did imitate Robinson’s ‘Little Caesar.’
Wayne and Shuster tapped him as a supporting player on the Ed Sullivan Show.
His one marriage lasted nearly 70 years.
