    He was buried on the Dodgers depth chart behind the likes of Paul Lo Duca and short term backups like Brent Mayne and Todd Hundley.
    He became a journeyman player after leaving the Dodgers.
    He spent the majority of his career as a backup.
    He was nicknamed 'Grandpa' by his teammates on the Cubs, due to his status as the team's oldest player.
    He missed a good portion of the 2013 season as a result of concussions.

    He was a serviceable catcher during his playing career.
    He got the opportunity to play regularly during his stint with the Reds.
    He is the oldest player in World Series history to hit a home run (39 years of age in 2016).
