Why he might be annoying:

He will forever be typecast as the mailman from Cheers.
He originally tried out for the role of Norm.
He was only in seven episodes in the first season.
He was only nominated for 2 Emmys, far less than most of his Cheers castmates.
He he done lots of commercials since his Cheers days ended, including some for postal meters.
He did not do a guest appearance on Frasier for a long time because he thought it was a step backward and he hated the way blue-collar Americans were portrayed.

Why he might not be annoying:

He got the part of Cliff after complaining about his bad audition for Norm.
The episode of Cheers when Cliff appears on Jeopardy is one of the most classic episodes in the show's history.
He had supporting roles in lots of successful and sci-fi films.
Unlike most of the Cheers cast, he actually lived in Boston.
