When an older woman chastised him for being a professional athlete that smokes and drinks, he replied, 'I ain't an athlete, lady. I'm a baseball player.'
He is overweight.
He was the leader of perhaps the most slovenly World Series participants ever, the 1993 Phillies.
He traded his uniform number to new teammate Mitch Williams for $10 and two cases of beer.
He drives a pickup truck and blasts country music
He worked with Tom Arnold.
Rather than finish a season, he chose to retire in the middle of a game.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a career .300 hitter.
He batted .348 during the 1993 World Series.
He had testicular cancer, which required one of his testicles to be removed (no 'One Nut Kruk' jokes, please).
He provided one of the funniest moments in All-Star Game history. After he was nearly beaned in the head with a Randy Johnson fastball, he started swinging at Randy's pitches from way outside the batter's box (1993).
His wife was 1999 Miss New Jersey USA.
Though a wiseass, he is very funny.
