U.S. Senator

The Resume

    (January 23, 1924-June 3, 2013)
    Born in Paterson, New Jersey
    Democratic Senator representing New Jersey (January 1983-January 2001; January 2003-June 3, 2013)

Why he might be annoying:

He retired from the Senate in 2001, then ran again in 2002 as the incumbent Democrat faced corruption charges.
His voting record is incredibly liberal.
He had no political experience (not even at the local level) when he was first elected to the U.S. Senate.
As a Senator, he often met with celebrities who went to Capitol Hill to lobby bills they supported.
Chris Christie labeled him a 'partisan hack.'
Generally supportive of gay rights, he voted in favor of the Defense of Marriage Act.

Why he might not be annoying:

He served in World War II.
He graduated Columbia Business School (1949).
He co-started and was CEO of one of the world's first 'computing service companies.'
He underwent chemotherapy after being diagnosed with B-Cell Lymphoma stomach cancer (2010).
He was one of the first Senators to publicly oppose SOPA and PIPA (2012).
As the oldest sitting Senator, he didn't shy away from speaking out against the Tea Party.
