    Pseudonym of Alice Bradley Sheldon
Wrote 'Her Smoke Rose Up Forever,' 'Brightness Falls from the Air,' 'Meet Me at Infinity,' 'The Screwfly Solution,' and 'The Starry Rift'

She used a male pseudonym because science fiction was a male-dominated field and she was 'tired of always being the first woman in some damn profession.'
She also used the name Raccoona Sheldon (Raccoona?).
She was not revealed to be female until 1977.

Why she might not be annoying:

Even after she revealed herself to be a woman, some science fiction writers refused to accept it.
She served in the US Army during World War II.
She had a Ph.D. in psychology.
