Politician

The Resume

    (September 16, 1974- )
    Born in San Antonio, Texas
Brother to HUD Secretary and former-San Antonio Mayor, Julian Castro
Represented the 125th District in the Texas House of Representatives from 2003 to 2013
Elected to represent Texas' 20th District in the US House of Representatives in 2012

Why he might be annoying:

He started out running for the 35th District seat in 2012, but ended up running for and winning the 20th District seat.
His election was largely due to his brother's name recognition and influence (he even introduced his brother as the Keynote Speaker at the 2012 Democratic National Convention).
He is believed to have cost his brother the 2005 Mayoral race for standing in for him at a city parade, leading many to believe that he was Julian.
'Twin-Gate,' as it was called, led to many corny 'Parent Trap' references from political pundits.
Like his brother, he is a pretty boy.
He shares a surname with a a Cuban Communist dictator(who interestingly also lives in his brother's shadow).
His engagement was announced for him by his brother on his Facebook page.
He has been instrumental in the 'Paint Texas Blue' initiative waged by liberal Democrats.
He got into a war of words with Gov. Rick Perryin which he accused Perry of attempting to create 'a police state' by sending the National Guard to enforce border security (Jul. 2014).
He has been accused of being party to, and of covering up, long term public/police corruption, bond/grant fraud, theft of public funds, contract fraud, and open meeting violations by San Antonio leadership.
He gained entry into Stanford through Affirmative Action and, like his brother, is a vocal supporter of it.
His otherwise unremarkable career in politics is assured continued relevance because of his relation to a rising star in the Democratic Party.

Why he might not be annoying:

Although it posed a potential hindrance to their political careers, he and his brother chose to keep the name 'Castro' despite it being their mother's maiden name (their father's last name is 'Guzaman').
Anyone who can make Rick Perry mad must be doing something right.
He tweeted 'we should be sending the Red Cross to the border not the National Guard.'
His mother was a founding member of 'La Raza Unida' ('The United Race').
He attended Harvard with his brother and earned a Juris Doctorate at the same time he did.
He and his brother worked at the same law firm together before starting their own firm together.
He became interested in politics by watching his mother and father work political campaigns and civic activities in San Antonio.
He is only the 5th person to represent the 20th District of Texas (and the youngest).
He graduated from Stanford University with a BA in political science and communications with Honors.
