She died from anorexia.
She took her eating disorder to such an extreme, she eventually got down to 47 lbs.
She appeared on ‘The Jerry Springer Show’ to discuss her battle with anorexia (this was before it became the trailer trash wrestling match it is today).

Why she might not be annoying:

Her coach called her the Pillsbury Doughboy even though she was hardly overweight.
She made the U.S. National Team at the age of 14.
She was Homecoming princess in high school.
One commentator called her ‘tough as nails.’
A judge in Budapest called her ‘fat’ even though she was only 93 lbs.
Her death helped bring attention to the pressure to be super skinny in the gymnastics community.
