Why they might be annoying:

They imploded after making a mere two albums.
They had strange fashion sense, with black nail polish, lipstick, platform boots, bouffant hairdos, feather boas, etc.
David Johansen had the cheesy alter-ego Buster Poindexter.
They were heavy drug addicts.
During their first European tour, Billy Murcia mixed drugs and alcohol, which cost him his life.
They had chances at international stardom and never got it.
Record companies were afraid to hire them.
Mercury Records dropped them after their second album.

Why they might not be annoying:

David Johansen had success as an actor.
They influenced countless bands, particularly the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, Blondie, the Clash and KISS.
They were described as 'punk before punk had a name.'
They had amazing attitude.
Their lone two albums are massive cult classics.
