Why he might be annoying:

His father, a papermill worker, comes from a Newfie town known as… Dildo.
He was crippled by rickets very early in his life.
His dramatic reading of Justin Bieber’s autobiography, on a 2010 episode of This Hour Has 22 Minutes, went viral.
Media sources can’t seem to agree on the year of his OOC honor.
Asked about his icons, he named his wife and daughter — and mistakenly referred to the latter as his Kryptonite (which he thought was a source of strength)!

Why he might not be annoying:

He regards Spencer Tracy and Zane Grey as icons.
His first significant role was on the Hallmark Hall of Fame — stateside. That set off a string of guest parts on American prime-time.
As evidenced by his screenplays ‘The Rowdyman’ and ‘John and the Missus,’ for which he won best acting honors, Newfoundland settings are critical to his roles.
His daughter Leah – his only child by his second wife (of some 45 years) – became an actress in her own right (Made in Canada, on which he made an appearance).
For his 75th birthday, the Arts & Culture Centre in his hometown became the Gordon Pinsent Centre for the Arts.
