    It's population decreased by a million in a 15 year period known as 'White Flight.'
    Many of it's skyscrapers are either half-full or abandoned.
    Jimmy Hoffa disappeared in Detroit.
    Magician Harry Houdini's trick went terribly wrong and he died in Detroit (October 31, 1926).
    Stevie Wonder announced he planned to run for mayor in 1992 (but he didn't).
    The longest NHL game involved the Detroit Red Wings, who beat the Montreal Maroons (Canadiens) at 16:30 in the 6th overtime (March 24, 1936).
    Detroit was the first franchise in the defunct World Football League (1973).

    The largest attendance in NBA history: the Boston Celtics at Detroit (61,938, January 29, 1988).
