Pitcher for the Chicago Cubs (1923-1934), Pittsburgh Pirates (1935-1936), Boston Bees (1936-1937), St. Louis Cardinals (1938) and the Cincinnati Reds (1945)
Two time NL Saves Champion (1925 and 1929)
Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame (1988)
Died of a cardiac arrest at the age of 83

He nickname was 'The Mississippi Mudcat.'
He surrendered the pitches for Babe Ruth's final two home runs.
He pitched for two World Series losing teams (1929 and 1932).
His performance in the 1932 World Series was uneventful.

Despite the historic pitches he gave up, the Pirates defeated the Boston Braves, 7-11 (May 25, 1935).
He finished his Major League career with an overall 176-136 record.
