Why he might be annoying:

He's never won a major award for his acting.
    He smokes.
Despite appearing in some major roles and a large body of work, his career seems to be stuck in 'that guy' limbo.
He is sometimes mixed up with/mistaken for fellow actor Julian Sands.
For some reason, no matter what the role, he dyes his hair blond and usually wears heavy (and obvious) makeup on screen.
He likes playing villains but finds 'it not very challenging.'
He has appeared in sequels to 'Dungeons & Dragons' and in 'The Howling VI: The Freaks.'
    The critics love him.
Honest to God, his official American website was titled 'A Girl Who Loves Bruce Payne.'

Why he might not be annoying:

Although he has a long and fruitful career in films and on TV he still likes to perform on stage and does so frequently.
He plays insane/alien/evil/demoniacally possessed bad guys just about as well as anybody has in the history of film.
He frequently inserts an ambiguous sexuality into his villainous characters that adds to their repulsiveness.
Although not a big man, he is able to portray physically intimidating characters very well.
He portrays very intelligent characters very well.
    He fences.
Queen Elizabeth is reportedly a fan of his stage work.
He overcame spina bifida as a teenager.
He gives very good interviews where he has nothing but effusive praise for his coworkers.
