    Born in Baltimore, Maryland
    Member of Hal Roach’s Our Gang comedy troupe
    Acted in shorts ‘Boxing Gloves’ (1929), ‘Shivering Shakespeare’ (1930), ‘Teacher’s Pet’ (1930), ‘School’s Out’ (1930), ‘Helping Grandma’ (1931), ‘Love Business’ (1931), ‘Bargain Day’ (1931) and ‘Fly My Kite’ (1931)
    His date of birth may have been changed from 1914 to 1918 to allow him to work as a child actor.
    His Our Gang character sometimes referred to himself as 'Chubsy Ubsy.'
    By 1931, he weighed 300 pounds and was only four feet, seven inches tall.
    He was let go after two years as he had become too old to continue with the troupe.
    He was the first of several Our Gang actors to have an early, untimely death.
    He had a cherubic face.
    He won a nationwide contest run by Hal Roach who needed a new fat boy.
    Joe Cobb, the actor he replaced, said, ‘He adapted gracefully, and we all liked him.’
    He was an excellent student.
    His weight was caused by a glandular ailment.
    He died a few months after an operation meant to reduce his weight.
