Why he might be annoying:

They called their second album 'Contagious.'
They performed at the 2004 Republican National Convention, in New York City.
They sang the theme song 'Follow Me There' for 'Sarah Palin's Alaska.'
Illuminati conspiracy theorists have accused them of deliberately utilizing 'occult symbolism' on their album covers.
Their fans are known as 'gomers' in reference to a popular song on their second album.
They have struggled to become a 'crossover group' without alienating their base.
For example, pissing off some fundamentalists in the audience by playing 'Sweet Home Alabama' as a dedication to their parents (shoulda stuck with 'Amazing Grace!')
Dave Carr told CCM Magazine, in a 1999 interview: 'Worship has to come from the heart and be sincere, so we’ve been really wary about jumping on a ‘worship music’ bandwagon... Some of our songs we never thought of in a worship context until we began performing them live and saw people raising their hands and worshipping. It surprises us and makes us realize that what we do is sometimes more worshipful than we know.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    They self-financed their first album.

The won an American Music Award for Favorite Contemporary Inspirational Artists (2008).
They collaborated on the soundtrack for Mel Gibson's 'Passion of the Christ' film.
Their song, 'This Is Who I Am' was played for the EA Sports NASCAR video game, 'NASCAR 09.'
Their song, 'Call My Name,' became the fifth most-played song on R&R magazine's Christian CHR chart for 2008.
Their music video for 'Consuming Fire' won a Billboard Music Award in the category of Best Christian Video (1996).
They became the first Christian band to make the cover of Billboard magazine.
They are credited with revolutionizing the Christian pop genre by appealing to the 'Rock Arena' market segment, in the mid-nineties.
Their name is an obvious reference to the biblical account of Jesus' rise from the dead on the 'third day' following his crucifixion.
