    First winner of the Tour de France (1904)
    Although he was born in Italy, he was a citizen of France.
    He was disqualified from the 1904 race after it was revealed he hopped a train for part of the route.
    He wasn't the only racer to cheat. Other also rode a train part of the way.
    He travelled from Lyons to Mersailles, Toulose, Bordeaux, and Paris in 94 hours, 33 minutes and 14 seconds.
    He beat his nearest competitor by nearly two hours.
    After that race he retired from professional cycling.
    He ran a small repair shop until his death.
