If he indeed did kill a dragon, then it is likely he drove a species to extinction.

He was a brave and honorable man.
He is said to have saved the people of Cappadocia from a dragon (around 1260).
He spread a message of love and peace.
He saved a maiden from being sacrificed to the dragon in Cappadocia.
He gave his reward to the poor.
He showed knights how to convert their battle lust into socially acceptable forms.
His red cross became the symbol of England in battle.
In the 15th century, his feast was as popular as Christmas.
He was martyred in Palestine for not worshipping pagan idols.
He was worshipped by Muslims as well as Christians.
