The Resume

    (1949- )
    Born in Dallas, Texas
    Real estate developer
Chair and CEO of Crow Holdings
Donor to Republican and conservative causes

Why he might be annoying:

He purchased citizenship in St. Kitts and Nevis, possibly to take advantage of its banking secrecy laws (2012).
In addition, three holding companies belonging to Crow Holdings are located in another offshore tax have, the Cayman Islands.
Over a 20-year period, he gave an estimated $1 million in gifts, including luxury trips on his yachts and personal jets, to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas that Thomas never disclosed.
He bought from Thomas the house where the Justice's mother lives -- without Thomas reporting the sale -- and then let her live in the house ren-free.
He paid the boarding school fees for Thomas' nephew, Mark Martin, who Thomas has had legal custody of since Martin was six.
He provided most of the funding for Liberty Central, a lobbying group that paid Thomas' wife Virginia an annual salary of $121,000.

Why he might not be annoying:

He took over Crow Holdings during a real estate crash and revitalized the company by diversifying, especially into property management.
He kept a straight face while insisting, 'I never sought to influence Justice Thomas on any legal or political issue.'
He kept a low profile (until the Thomas gifts became public news), saying, 'I just don't want to be famous. I want to go to Schlotzky's or Arby's, those are my kinds of places, and be a regular person.'
