Why he might be annoying:

    His name is repetitive.
    His tenure in Philadelphia ended after he was accused of physically assaulting a reporter in a post-game interview (1982).
    He was known as the goaltender who surrendered three historic goals in NHL history.
    He was the goaltender who allowed Mario Lemieux's first NHL goal (1984), Bob Nystrom's Stanley Cup overtime clinching goal (1980) and four of Wayne Gretzky's five goals (1981).
    He was pulled out of the net when both Gretzky scored his 50th goal (5th of the same game) in his 39th game (1981) and Ron Hextall scored the first Stanley Cup playoff goal by a goaltender (1989).
    He was nearly blacklisted by NHL teams, after he refused a call up to the Flyers in order to spend Christmas with his family.
    He posted a 1-13-5 record and was relegated to third string duty during his final season in the NHL.

    He was born to Dutch immigrants.
    He is the first goaltender in NHL history to record two winning streaks of 25 games or more in a single season.
    He guided the Flyers to the first of three Stanley Cup Finals appearances in the 1980's.
    He defied the odds and made it to the NHL as a ninth round draft pick.
    He was a competitive swimmer, prior to taking up hockey during his teenage years.
    He set an NHL rookie goaltending record after he went 22-0-5 in his first 27 career games.
