Wrote the violin pieces 'Caprice Viennos,' 'Tambourin Chinois,' 'Liebesleid' and 'Liebesfreud'
Became a naturalized US citizen (1943)

Why he might be annoying:

He was turned down by the Vienna Philharmonic and temporarily quit music to study medicine.
He broke an engagement to give a command performance for the Russian czar to follow a girl he was smitten with to Finland.
He was touring America giving a series of concerts to benefit Austria when the US entered World War I against Austria. (Awkward!)
He forged a series of 'lost classics,' which he claimed had been written by earlier composers such as Pugnani, Tartini and Vivaldi.

Why he might not be annoying:

At 12, he won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome gold medal competing against 40 other musicians, all of whom were at least 20 years old.
After he revealed his authorship of the pieces by Vivaldi, et al., he observed, 'The name changes, the value remains.'
Upon waking from a month-long coma after being hit by a truck(1941), he initially could only speak Latin and ancient Greek.
He was married to Harriet Lies for sixty years until his death.
