The Resume

    (August 2, 1892-September 9, 1978)
    Born in London, Ontario, Canada
    Birth name was Jacob Warner
Co-founder of Warner Brothers Pictures (1923)
Produced the films 'My Four Years in Germany' (1918), 'The Gold Diggers of 1933' (1933), 'Dr. Ehrlich's Magic Bullet' (1940), 'No Time for Comedy' (1940), 'The Man Who Came to Dinner' (1942), 'This Is the Army' (1943), 'My Fair Lady' (1964), 'Camelot' (1967) and '1776' (1972)

Why he might be annoying:

Upon meeting Madame Chiang Kai-Shek and a group of Asian dignitaries, he said, 'That reminds me, I forgot to pick up my laundry.'
During a rare meeting with his company's animators, he said, 'The only thing I know is that we make Mickey Mouse,' which was a Disney character.
He appeared before the House Unamerican Activities Committee as a 'friendly witness' and named screenwriters he suspected of having Communist sympathies.
He convinced his brothers to participate in a joint sale of stock, then secretly purchased his brothers' shares to assume sole control of the studio (1956).
When his brother Harry died two years later, he commented, 'I didn't give a shit about Harry.'
He did not mention his son Jack, Jr., in his autobiography.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was responsible for recruiting most of Warner Brothers' top stars, including William Powell, James Cagney and Humphrey Bogart.
He and Warner Brothers were recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science for 'revolutionizing the industry with sound' by releasing 'The Jazz Singer.'
At a time when other studios ignored Nazism out of fear of alienating European markets, he produced films openly critical of Germany's fascist government.
His wife Ann claimed, 'He is extremely sensitive, but there are few who know that because he covers it with a cloak.'
