    She's sometimes credited as Ellen Naomi Cohen, Cass Elliott and The Mamas & Papas. She lost to Barbra Streisand for the 'Miss Marmelstein' stage role in 'I Can Get It for You Wholesale.'
    There was a rumor that she died as a result of choking on a ham sandwich because a partial one was found by her bed. She was a member of the folk group 'The Mugwumps' and married one of its members, James Hendricks, to help him avoid the draft.
    Her marriage to James Hendricks was never consummated and later annulled.
    She married and divorced Baron Donald von Wiedenman in the same year. (1971).
    She loathed being called 'Mama' Cass, which she took as a derogatory comment on her 300+ lbs.
    She ranked #8 in 1968 on Mr. Blackwell's Worst Dress List.

    She preferred classical music, jazz and Broadway show tunes over rock.
    She was part of the Folk movement in Greenwich Village, New York.
    Her sister, Leah Kunkel, became legal guardian of her daughter, Owen Vanessa (born 1967) upon her death.
    She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Mamas & Papas), which was accepted by her daughter (1998).
    Her daughter is a singer, trying to let her Mother's legacy live.
    She performed for sellout audiences at the London Palladium right before her heart attack.
    She recorded six solo albums.
