‘Waltz Across Texas’ became a staple of the state’s dance halls.
The first record shop in his name opened in downtown Nashville (May 1947). It spawned the Midnight Jamboree show.
He was an inspiration to countless recording artists.
There was only one fan club in his name, with a single president during its entire 50-odd-year run.
