    Born in Jenkins, Kentucky
    Recorded the singles ‘Drinkin’ Thing’ (1974), ‘Out of Hand’ (1974), ‘She’s Acting Single (I’m Drinking Doubles)’ (1975), ‘You’re Not the Woman You Used to Be’ (1975), ‘In Some Room Above the Street’ (1976), ‘Your Place or Mine’ (1976), ‘Ten Years of This’ (1977) and ‘Whisky Trip’ (1978)
    Committed suicide by gunshot one month after the death from pneumonia of his wife of 40+ years, Mary Lou

Why he might be annoying:

    His music was described as ‘too country for rock audiences and too rock for country audiences.’
    He searched through a dumpster outside a recording studio to try to find a packet of cocaine he had accidentally thrown out.
    He was also addicted to painkillers and amphetamines.
    During one interview with a radio station, he could not remember the names of the members of his band or his own birthday.
    When not in the recording studio or on the road, he lived in a trailer with the windows blacked out.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He had a distinctive vibrato voice.
    He injured his back in a car crash (1980).
    ’Rolling Stone’ wrote, ‘With practitioners like Stewart around, honky-tonk—and rockabilly—may not be dead yet.’
    Bob Dylan was a fan, driving out of his way during a tour to meet Stewart and tell him that ‘Ten Years of This’ was one of his favorite songs.
