    Birth name is Alfredo Peter Zappacosta
    Former member of the Canadian pop group Surrender (1974-83)
    Notable singles include 'Passion,' 'We Should Be Lovers,' 'When I Fall (In Love Again)' and 'Nothing Can Stand In Your Way'
    Was part of the Northern Lights charity single 'Tears Are Not Enough' (1985)

    He sported a mullet early in his career.
    He used the monoynmous name 'Zappacosta' on his earlier albums.
    He left Surrender as he didn't feel he would have the same artistic freedoms as he would going solo.
    He clashed with Capitol Records executives, who he felt was treating him more like a commodity then an artist.
    He did jingles for the Pizza Nova restaurant chain following the release of 'Overload.'

    He emigrated to Canada at six months old.
    He earned a Juno Award for Most Promising Male Vocalist (1984).
    He was a versatile artist, recording albums in the pop, rock and jazz genres.
    In addition to his work in music, he also participated in theatre productions.
    He survived bouts with pneumonia and pancreatic cancer, and still continues performing live as of 2020.
